Volunteer with HALO

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
Galatians 6:9

Thank you for your interest in serving with HALO!

HALO is a ministry that operates because of our volunteers; volunteers are our lifeline. We have a minimal staff and, to reach the hurting and hungry of our community, we need you.

Volunteers can be groups from schools, churches, civic or community organizations, businesses, or even friend groups or individuals! As long as you have a heart for doing God’s work, there is a place for you at Hope And Life Outreach.

Do you like to work with children? Do you enjoy fashion? Do you have experience with the English language? Can you listen to someone and provide empathy and support? Can you pray with/for someone? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you’re experienced enough to start training as a volunteer!

Individuals, families, and groups can serve as one-time events, monthly, or weekly in various ministries!

How to volunteer

Anyone looking to volunteer should first attend HALO 101. During this training, you will learn all about HALO: who we are, what we do, why we do it! You will also learn more about our volunteer opportunities and find out which area is the best fit for you!

Please allow a two weeks after attending training for your information to be put into our systems. Once you're in, our volunteer coordinator will contact you to get on the schedule!

Student Volunteers:

Many students seeking volunteer opportunities to fulfill required community service hours for school and/or college are volunteering with HALO.

At HALO, we are purposeful in placing volunteers and intentional in providing a well rounded experience and education about homelessness.

We seek to protect the dignity and privacy of those we serve on a daily basis. For this reason, community service assignments may or may not always include face-to-face contact with our guests. However, all service opportunites at HALO will directly benefit those in need in our community!

Court Ordered Volunteers:

Court ordered volunteers are able to volunteer with HALO. Placement is limited to HALO's Thrift Ministry, where you will sort donations, arrange displays, help unload/load donations, and assist with pick ups!

Group Volunteers:

HALO welcomes community/civic groups, school clubs, families, and churches to come volunteer together! If you have a group that is interested in volunteering, please reviewing the Volunteer Opportunities Handbook and then click here to download your group application!Once your application has been submitted, our Group Coordinator will contact you to confirm your information and set up a Volunteer time for your group.

Individual volunteer applications will be available at the HALO 101 training.

Volunteer Scheduling:

All volunteers are scheduled in advance through our Volunteer Coordinator.  We do not offer drop in/last minute volunteer opportunities.

It should also be noted, that we may or may not be able to accommodate all or part of required hours due to availability and needs within our ministry at that time.
